TOPICS

THE BLACK GREEK SUCCESS PROGRAM
How can hours of step (or stomp) practice be a productive use of time?  Is it OK for me to disagree with my frat brother or soror?  How can I thrive in my organization while maintaining my individuality?  What the heck is the "Gumbo Theory"

MonroeSpeech.jpgAs a proud Black Greek I pull no punches with my fellow NPHC Greeks about what it means to wear a set of letters.  The Black Greek Success Program takes a look at how college Greeks can take the passion they have for their letters and turn it into marketable career skills.

I utilize my knowledge of the workforce from my days at Monster Worldwide plus my years of experience in Black Greek life, as a collegian and as a graduate chapter leader, to provide students with a plan to take advantage of valuable career opportunities!  Also available as a workshop!

Target Audience:  Members of African-American college fraternities and sororities

CONNECT WITH RESPECT
This interactive workshop is designed to help youth recognize the importance of communications skills.  The interactive and energetic session breaks down the components of the communication process and it demonstrates how to effectively use that process as a method of conflict resolution.

The workshop can be done in two (2) or four (4) hour sessions.  Your youth group, class or organization will be left with precious pearls of wisdom to help them communicate better with peers, teachers and even *GASP* parents!

Target Audience:  High school students

I LOVE ME SOME ME! HOW TO BE YOUR OWN P.R. AGENT.

PUBLIC SPEAKING TECHNIQUE COACHING

Did you know that public speaking is one of people's top fears?  Some even say that they are more afraid to speak than they are to die.

Why is public speaking important?  It teaches us:
  • How to organize our thoughts,
  • How to manage stress,
  • How to communicate effectively in other areas, namely writing and body language,
  • How to put our leadership skills on display,
  • How to confidently engage people personally and effectively, especially in those important meetings and job interviews and
  • Most importantly how to give ourselves that much needed attitude adjustment.

We will also work on sharpening those tools which are the building blocks of effective public speaking:

  • Projection and Inflection
  • Eye Contact
  • Movement
  • Articulation

HISTORY

webassets/EFcomSpeak1.jpgI am an energetic speaker whose speeches and presentations are seasoned with humor and candor.  Folks in schools may remember me in my days with Monster's Making It Count Programs, where I served as Louisiana Area Manager.  While with MIC, I conducted 1,249 presentations for more than a quarter of a million high school and college students in 28 states.

My speaking career really began when I was a teenager.  It was then that I discovered my true talent as a member of the St. Augustine High School Speech & Debate Team where I competed in three national tournaments.  My forté was Humorous Interpretation in which I was a back-to-back National Forensic League Louisiana district champion.

In college I took another step as a member of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc.  Having served as a two-time chapter president, I represented the Southwestern Region of the fraternity at the national Belford V. Lawson Oratorical Contest.
